PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a thermoplastic with one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. PTFE has almost an universal chemical compatibility (is resistant to numerous chemical substances) and can be used in a wide range of temperature (-200 °C to +250 °C).
However, PTFE is a soft rigid material, easily deformable.
To counteract these difficulties, Techné offers PTFE with various fillers (bronze, carbon, glass, graphite, MoS2).
Other PTFE materials with fillers are available on request.
Sealing parts in PTFE are often produced by CNC machining. PTFE is used for the fabrication/manufacturing of bonded seals, rod seals, piston seals, O-rings and ball valve fittings.
When PTFE is used for sealing purposes, it is often combined with an elastomer sealing part (or a steel spring) in order to obtain the necessary elasticity
The standard PTFE compound is used for CNC machined sealing parts. Its colour is white and it has approvals for the food industry (FDA, CE 1935/2004, 3A),(the) medical industry (USP VI) and the drinking water (W270, WRAS).
